Refrigerator Types

Monday, September 26, 2016

There are so many different types of refrigerators on the market these days.

Let us help you determine what might be best for you and what types there really are and the maintenance of each.

  • Refrigerator with FreezerAll Refrigerators
  • Bottom-Freezer Refrigerators
    • As obvious, this is a fridge with the freezer compartment at the bottom. The thinking is that one opens the freezer much less frequently than the fridge allowing the fridge items to be higher in the unit for easy removal. Also, the freezer is a drawer that pulls out allowing the cold air to stay within the drawer and not to "fall out" like a top freezer does when opening the door.
  • Top-Freezer Refrigerators
    • Traditional refrigerator - freezer at eye height and fridge section below
  • Counter-Depth Refrigerators
    • Counter -Depth are fridges of all types that are sized to the depth of a traditional counter and are therefore shallower than a traditional refrigeration.
  • French Door Refrigerators
    • A two door fridge where the two doors on top open up to the refrigerator and the bottom section is a freezer, usually a drawer. A very popular model at this time
  • Side-by-Side Refrigerators
    • A two door refrigerator where one door opens up to the freezer and the other to the fridge.  It is hard to store large items in this type of refrigerator
  • Freezerless Refrigerators
    • As the name indicates a fridge with no freezer compartment
    • Drawer Refrigerators
      • Also can be known as under the counter refrigerator for the smaller home where there is limited space
  • Compact Refrigerators
    • Small refirgerator often a second under the bar basement unit
  • Wine Refrigerators & Coolers
    • Have optimum temperature for your wines, these units typically do not cool as cold as a refrigerator to have the best tasting wine.
  • Beverage Refrigerators
    • Often found at the grocery store near the cash registers
  • Beer Kegerators
    • Holds a partial or full keg of beer with a tap at the top for easy dispensing.

What do I watch for

As refrigerators become more and more technologically advanced, each piece of electronics adds another possible break item that may need replacement. Advanced sensors, app tie-in for the grocery store, filtered water dispensing and different ice types are all possible enhancements to a refrigerator.

But the service technicians at Lake Country Repair can keep your refrigerator in tip top shape and will alleviate your fear of breakage. Enjoy the special sensors and check the content in your fridge from the grocery store.
